When working around the edges of your pieces, there are special considerations, especially if a zinc frame is to be installed. The zinc frame will cover a few millimeters into your piece, depending on the width and depth of the came.

If you take the following design


and add lead came, the came might hide the outside edges of the circle, like this:


Therefore, the designer should think ahead, and leave some space between the circle and the piece's edge:


When done in this manner, the edge of the circle is not obscured by the zinc came, and the very short perpendicular leading from the circle to the zinc came minimizes solder lumps.


Avoid the convergence of multiple lead lines, unless the design cannot do without them, because the greater the number of converging lines, the greater the lump (in pink).
