PANEL LAMPSHADE STAINED GLASS PATTERN
Create your own trapezoid panel shape, or copy one from a published pattern book. An advantage of using a shape
from a book is that you don't have to worry about finding hardware of suitable dimensions for the base or vasecap.
In order to make this lamp shade
pattern, I have started with a trapezoid from a published pattern that has a nice 45 degree angle, and 8 repeats.
I want a lot of variety around the shade, so I have decided to have 2 repeats on 4 panels. Therefore, I copy out
4 trapezoids.
Cut out the trapezoids.
Fasten the trapezoids side by side with adhesive tape.
Draw the design elements you wish to incorporate, cut them out, and lay them on the blank panel shade pattern.
Arrange the design elements until you find their arrangement artistically pleasing.
Turn the pattern around, and using a lightsource, trace the design elements on the other side, following general principles for good lead lines.
Now, you must think about continuity where the repeats will meet. Remove the trapezoid on the left, and move it to the right.

Fill in the area where the repeat meets. Re-trace the pattern, add a few elements the background or foreground for added interest, and fix lead lines if necessary.
